Purpose-Built Memory Care in Clear Lake

Memory loss changes how a person experiences the world around them. The right environment can make that world feel more familiar, comfortable and manageable. The Heritage of Clear Lake was created specifically for adults living with Alzheimer's disease, dementia and other forms of memory loss.
‍
Rather than adding memory care as one wing of a larger assisted living community, we've built our community, training and daily routines around the needs of people experiencing cognitive change. That focus can be seen in the details—from thoughtfully designed spaces and secure outdoor areas to specialized caregiver training, meaningful programming and individualized support.

*The Heritage of Clear Lake does not accept Medicaid as a form of payment. We understand that financing long-term care is a significant consideration for families, and we encourage you to discuss all available options with our team. They are here to provide guidance and support as you explore the best possible solutions for your loved one’s needs.

Memory Care That Evolves With Your Loved One

Memory loss isn't one condition, and it doesn't look the same at every stage.

Our team takes time to learn each resident's history, preferences, routines, strengths and support needs. This understanding helps us provide meaningful assistance while preserving independence and dignity wherever possible. As needs change, we continue working with residents, families and care professionals to adapt the support we provide.

A Caring Team

By working closely with each resident and their family, we can help your loved one build new connections, continue to grow as a person, and even find new joy and fulfillment that may not have seemed possible.

We provide support to you and your family, helping you adjust to the changes occurring during this transitional period in your loved one’s life.

What is the difference between Alzheimer's disease and dementia?
Alzheimer's disease is a type of dementia. Dementia presents with a loss of thinking, remembering, and reasoning skills. It generally creates problems with a person's daily life and activities. Alzheimer's disease is the most common cause of dementia among older people. Other types of dementia include frontotemporal disorders and Lewy body dementia.
What are the early signs of Alzheimer's disease?
Memory problems are usually one of the first signs of Alzheimer's disease. This is not the case for everyone. Each individual may have different initial symptoms. A decline in other aspects of thinking, such as finding the right words, vision/spatial issues, and impaired reasoning or judgment, may also signal the very early stages of Alzheimer's disease. Mild cognitive impairment, or MCI, is a condition that may be an early sign of Alzheimer's disease—but not everyone with MCI will develop Alzheimer's. In addition to memory problems, movement difficulties and problems with the sense of smell have been linked to MCI.
What are the stages of Alzheimer's disease?
Alzheimer's disease progresses in several stages: preclinical, early (also called mild), middle (moderate), and late (severe). During the preclinical stage of Alzheimer's disease, people seem to be symptom-free, but toxic changes are taking place in the brain. A person in the early stage of Alzheimer's may exhibit the signs listed above.
As Alzheimer's disease progresses to the middle stage, memory loss and confusion grow worse, and people may have problems recognizing family and friends. As Alzheimer's disease becomes more severe, people lose the ability to communicate. They may sleep more, lose weight, and have trouble swallowing. Eventually, they will need total care.
What does a typical day look like at The Heritage of Clear Lake?
Every day is a little different and is designed around the needs, interests and abilities of our residents. Residents can enjoy chef-prepared meals, engaging activities, opportunities for movement and socialization, time outdoors in our secure courtyard, and plenty of time to relax. Our team provides support and encouragement throughout the day while allowing residents to maintain as much independence and choice as possible.
What services are included in memory care?
Memory care at The Heritage of Clear Lake includes 24/7 caregiver support, medication management, chef-prepared meals and snacks, housekeeping, laundry and linen services, utilities, scheduled activities and programming, access to our secure outdoor courtyard, and scheduled transportation. Our goal is to simplify daily life for residents and their families by providing comprehensive support in one welcoming community.
How do you determine how much care my loved one needs?
Before move-in, our team works with the resident and family to understand their needs, routines, preferences and health history. This helps us create an individualized approach to care and determine how we can best support them with daily activities, medications, mobility, personal care and other needs.
Is someone available to help my loved one 24 hours a day?
Yes. Caregivers are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to provide assistance, reassurance and support when residents need it.

When Is It Time to Consider
Memory Care?

Every family's situation is different. Memory care may be worth exploring when changes in memory begin making it difficult for a loved one to live safely or successfully without increasing levels of support. Families often begin their search when they notice that managing medications, meals, personal care, household responsibilities or safety has become more difficult—or when caregiving at home has become challenging to sustain.

You don't have to make the decision alone. Our team can answer questions, help you understand life in a dedicated memory care community and give you an opportunity to see The Heritage firsthand.
